WildGift is a family enterprise in the remote heart of Taranaki, New Zealand, producing honey enjoyed by families all around the world. Founders Glenn and Wendy Silson, are passionate about making honey and have been honing their craft for 35 years. What started as a hobby, managing a few hives and harvesting honey, swiftly transformed (with a lot of hard work) into a thriving business producing some of New Zealand’s purest honey. The couple shares a love for New Zealand’s pristine land and 10 years ago they purchased the remote Kotare Station and WildGift was created.
Producing the sumptuous, single-sourced honey WildGift is renowned for, requires meticulous dedication from the couple and their hardworking team. Living on the land at the isolated Kotare Station means they can constantly monitor the health of the hives and ensure the bees are well situated in the best honey-harvesting parts of the farm. The WildGift team tend to hundreds of thousands of bees in some of New Zealand’s harshest terrain (some hives are only accessible by helicopter) and in some of the wildest, most changeable weather conditions.
Kotare Station’s 3,000 acres are also used to farm a herd of more than 200 deer. Venison and velvet work nicely alongside honey, and the deer are as much at home as the bees in this rugged landscape. WildGift is committed to preserving the station’s pristine environment. Our honey is extracted in our WildGift processing plant, so the team can make sure only the best, most delicious honey finds its way to your table. For Glenn and Wendy, WildGift is more than a business – it is about championing a way of living and creating a family legacy.
The dedicated team of WildGift beekeepers are an essential part of our honey operation. Many of our team have been with WildGift for a number of years and it’s their dedication and hard work year-round, along with their passion for our bees that enables us to provide you with the most pure and delicious honey.
